AR, VR, Vroom...?

Hello, every being with a heartbeat. How are you? I'm nervous thanks to my final exams being right out the door. Yet today's topic and assignment were a delight to prepare. What is it, you are saying?

Today's post discusses integrating AR and VR into our classrooms. Yes, our classrooms. For this and all of the activities this year we have been working like actual teachers preparing for their students.

But first, what does Ar and VR mean? No, they are not related to Lady Gaga, the title is just a joke. AR stands for augmented reality and VR for virtual reality. Their difference lies within their names; only real places that exist on our planet have a place in AR whereas VR is almost completely programmed and connected to computer technology and artificial. You may remember the first time VR headsets came out, some people were scared that they were going to be possessed by them (the big leagues). Yet, today we are trying to integrate them into our lesson plans. AR was a sensation later in time when some museums officially announced that their museum was now available for virtual tours. This was huge news given that, now, people from anywhere on the Earth could visit these museums at home using a technological device, such as a phone or a computer.
These innovations now hold a bigger place in our lives as time runs and there may not be any way to avoid them being in the curriculums, which is why we started to teach them how to use and interact with them.

Our mission was to create a worksheet that fully integrated AR or VR into our teaching. My pair Nilgün Soysever and I chose AR and decided that Paris would be the best place to discover for our students. We chose three different things that we thought best represented Paris and made them into AR-integrated activities. We hope you enjoy our worksheet and learn something or two from it.

You can access the worksheet from here.

As always, take good care of yourself and do what makes you happy. Goodbye, every being with a heartbeat.
